Children aged 6 to 12 need around 9–12 hours of sleep per day. If they consistently get less than that, sleep debt will build up. For example, if your child only gets 6 hours of sleep each night during a school break, they’ll rack up a sleep debt of 21 hours by the end of the week!
Getting enough quality sleep is just as essential as proper nutrition and mental stimulation for your child’s growth. Lack of sleep can lead to various problems, such as:

Maintain a consistent sleep schedule
Encourage your child to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. You can also create a bedtime routine, like brushing teeth, changing into pajamas, and reading a story to signal the body that it’s time to sleep.
Avoid gadgets before bedtime
At least one hour before bedtime, keep gadgets away from your child. The blue light from screens can suppress melatonin, the hormone that regulates the body’s sleep-wake cycle. Also, try not to engage them in stimulating activities at night.
Create a comfortable sleep environment
Ensure your child’s room is cozy and calm, dim the lights or use a night lamp, keep the temperature cool, and minimize noise around the house.
